Robin Young, CFP®, RLP®, CEFT®
President and Owner of Northstar Financial Planning, Inc.There's a reason that Northstar Financial Planning offers a fresh perspective on life and wealth planning. That difference is Robin Young.Robin is resolute in her belief that individuals and their families deserve a deeper approach to wealth management. Particularly during periods of transition (retirement, loss of a spouse, inheritance, divorce, sale of a business), people need help navigating both the human and technical side of money to successfully align their decisions with what is truly important in their lives.
Before joining Northstar as a partner in 2004, Robin's professional career included 15 years at several prestigious financial firms and real estate management companies in Boston, including Boston Properties, LLC and The Colony Group. There, she advised C-level executives at several Fortune 500 corporations, including Unum Provident, EMC and IBM.
In 2008, Robin assumed the helm at Northstar Financial Planning and her work in helping women in transition gained attention. Robin believes that women deserve a better experience in working with a financial advisor and she and her team have focused considerable energy in delivering this experience through their client processes and through their Wiser Women Workshops and other educational opportunities. Robin augments her personal zeal for financial life planning with a range of solid credentials:

Robin is also a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council and several industry leading practice groups across the country. She also serves on the TD Ameritrade Advisory Panel and has volunteered her time with The Upper Room and on the Investment Advisory Board for the Merrimack Valley Home and Hospice. Recently, Robin has had the honor of assisting TD Ameritrade to select the recipients for the TD Ameritrade Next Gen Scholarship Award.
Robin exemplifies the importance of balancing her personal and family life with her professional and financial goals. She and her husband have a son and a daughter and reside in Windham, NH. They also have a vacation home in Jackson, NH, where they enjoy weekend access to hiking, skiing, snowshoeing and other outdoor activities. Robin is an avid follower of the practice of yoga and meditation to replenish her mind and body.
Kristina George, CPA, CDFA®, CFP®
Kristina has more than 20 years of public accounting and personal financial planning. Her credentials include; Certified Public Accountant, Certified Financial Planner™ a Master's of Science in Taxation (MST.) Additionally, Kristina holds the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst credential (CDFA) which qualifies her as a financial expert in divorce settlements and is a Collaboratively Trained Financial Neutral. She recently completed the New Hampshire requirements for Family Mediation and conflict resolution.
Kristina leverages her personal interests and passion as a communicator to help individuals and families in transition, facilitating positive interactions toward achieving what is truly important to them. She has particular expertise in developing tax-efficient income and estate-planning strategies for individuals and family businesses.
Kristina is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Financial Planning Association and the Collaborative Law Alliance of New Hampshire.
Alexa F. Darbe, CFP®
Alexa has been helping clients build a better future with good financial life planning and investment advice since 2000. She is a Wealth Manager with Northstar Financial Planning, Inc. and earned her license as a Certified Financial Planner™ professional in 2001.
Alexa provides fee-only personal financial planning and wealth management services for Northstar clients in New England and throughout the United States. Her primary focus is on investment analysis and wealth management strategy development.
Prior to joining Northstar, Alexa spent seven years at First Financial Trust in Newton, Massachusetts. As an Assistant Vice President, Financial Planner and Investment Officer, she worked with over 100 clients providing both investment management services and fee-only financial planning. Previously, she was a financial analyst at a software company where she developed financial planning software.
Alexa is a graduate of Tufts University with a major in psychology and minor in mathematics. She also attended Boston University's Program for Financial Planners and has participated in training workshops through the Kinder Institute of Life Planning and the Sudden Money Institute. She is a member of the Financial Planning Association.
Alexa lives in Hudson, New Hampshire with her husband, Eric, and two young sons. When she isn't playing with her boys, Alexa enjoys skiing, practicing yoga, watching the Red Sox, and eating her husband's delicious cooking.
Julie Fortin, CFP®, FBS®
Before beginning her career in financial planning, Julie served for 15 years in financial services including roles at investment bank Brown Brothers Harriman and investment manager Wellington Management Company in Boston. Prior to joining Northstar, Julie was Assistant Advisor at a fee-only wealth management firm in NH where she discovered a passion for helping people reach their life goals.
Julie provides personal wealth management services for Northstar clients. She has specialty training in wealth psychology and the neuroscience behind financial decisions and behavior. Clients are empowered when they have a better understanding of their mindset around money which enables them to not only reach their financial goals, but also experience financial well-being.
A lifelong learner, Julie holds a Masters in Finance degree from Suffolk University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management & Finance from Westfield State University. Julie is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST™. She supports her professional interests as a member of the Financial Planning Association, Financial Therapy Association, and the Financial Psychology Institute™.
Julie lives in Hampstead, NH where she enjoys family time with her husband and three children, spending time with friends, practicing hot yoga, and running.
Rachel DeCarolis, CFP®
WEALTH MANAGERRachel is a financial advisor who pursued a career in financial planning to combine her love of people and numbers. She started in the financial services industry 10 years ago as an analyst, assisting with client’s plans, investments, and taxes in a support role. She became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in 2015, and was the lead advisor for over 60 clients at a fee-only financial planning firm in Massachusetts.
Rachel is now a Wealth Manager at Northstar Financial Planning, Inc. She is a member of NAPFA, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. Rachel earned her MBA with a financial planning concentration from Bentley University, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Arkansas.One of Rachel’s favorite parts of working with clients is educating them and explaining concepts in a way that makes it easy to understand. Her goal is to help clients feel empowered by money, instead of afraid of it! Rachel strives to be described as a loyal mentor, who always pays close attention to the details. When she’s not at work, you’ll find her at aerial fitness classes, baking cookies with her daughters, or piled under blankets with a good book.
Financial Planning Analyst
Julie joined Northstar in 2016 as a part-time financial planning analyst. Julie previously worked in accounting and finance positions for 12 years, before taking time off with her family. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Ithaca College. Julie lives in Hampstead, NH with her husband and three children.
Office Manager and Client Hospitality Coordinator
Tina joined Northstar in 2006 and assumed a multifaceted role that taps into her high level of organization skills, commitment to getting things done right and her desire to help clients feel comfortable. Her responsibilities include client service, office manager duties and she is the first point of contact for many clients.
Tina has more than 20 years of prior experience in banking and the broader financial services industry.
As Northstar’s Hospitality Coordinator, Tina greets clients, getting to know them, and helping assure that their interactions with Northstar team members are exceptional.
Tina, her husband Jerry and her two sons, ages 19 and 21 live in Nashua, New Hampshire. She enjoys weekends away in NH’s North Country where her and her family snowmobile, trail ride and enjoy nature.
