Northstar Financial Planning, Inc., and our Employees are committed to the provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (the "Privacy Act") passed by the U. S. Congress and signed by President Clinton in November 1999. We are committed to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and security of the personal information that is entrusted to us by our clients.
The categories of nonpublic information that we collect from you during the planning process may include information about your personal finances, information about your health to the extent that it is needed for the financial planning process, information about transactions between you and third parties, and information from consumer reporting agencies, e.g., credit reports. We use this information to help you meet your personal financial goals. At the time we start the planning process, you will be asked to read and sign a Privacy Policy, which defines any restrictions you desire on sharing information with third parties. With your prior permission, we disclose limited information to attorneys, accountants, and mortgage lenders with whom you have established a relationship. You may instruct us not to share information with these nonaffiliated third parties by notifying us at any time by telephone, mail, fax, email, or in response to our annual notice. With your permission, the Advisor Authorization you signed prior to opening an investment account at TD Waterhouse allows us to share a limited amount of information about you with your brokerage firm in order to execute securities transactions on your behalf.
We maintain a secure office to ensure that your information is not placed at unreasonable risk. We employ a hardware firewall barrier, daily data backup and off-site storage of backup files, secure data encryption techniques and users authentication procedures in our computer server and workstations. All Northstar employees and independent contactors with access to client data are required to sign a Confidentiality Statement as a prerequisite. We also have “Disaster Recovery” procedures and equipment in place.
We do not sell or otherwise provide, for any reason, any personal or financial information about you to mailing list vendors or solicitors.
We require strict confidentiality in our agreements with unaffiliated third
parties that require access to your personal information, including financial
service companies, consultants, and auditors. Federal and state securities
regulators may review our Company records and your personal records as permitted
by law.
In order to comply with applicable Federal and State regulations regarding
the provision of investment advisory services by Northstar Financial Planning,
Inc., it is hereby affirmed that:
Northstar Financial Planning, Inc. is registered with the United States Securities
& Exchange Commission as an Investment Advisor domiciled in the State
of New Hampshire. We also currently maintain appropriate registrations in
the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Northstar Financial Planning, Inc. may only transact business in a state if first registered, excluded or exempted from state investment adviser or investment advisor representative registration requirements, as may be; and follow-up, individualized responses to persons in a state by Northstar that involve either the effecting or attempting to effect transactions in securities, or the rendering of personalized investment advice for compensation, as may be, will not be made absent compliance with state investment adviser or IA rep registration requirements, or an applicable exemption or exclusion.
Northstar Financial Planning, Inc. has implemented policies and procedures designed reasonably to ensure that prior to any subsequent, direct communication with prospective customers or clients in a state, Northstar is either registered in the State of domicile of said prospective client or qualifies for an exemption or exclusion from such requirement. Nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to relieve Northstar from any applicable securities registration requirement in a state.
